人気グループ「嵐」の櫻井翔（２４）がキャスターに挑戦する日テレ系のニュース番組「ＮＥＷＳ ＺＥＲＯ」（１０月２日スタート、月～木曜・後１０時５４分、金曜・後１１時半）の制作発表が２５日、東京・汐留の同局で行われた。
櫻井は月曜キャスターを担当。アイドルが報道に携わるのは同局史上初めて。クーデターが起きたタイで、１０月７日に嵐の音楽祭出演が予定されているが、早速「キャスターの目」で情勢を分析。現地では５人以上の政治集会が禁止されており「大勢の人が集まる所へ行くことがいいのか検討中ですが、嵐としては行きたい」と話した。
